I wish to highlight a practice by a local company which appears to use me as a source of free labour. I applied for job from agency (Achieve Career Consultant Pte Ltd) and was offered a employment at GuyverCar Pte Ltd, located at West Coast CarMart. My job title is Sales Coordinator. I started my work on 09th Dec2008, working a five days per week from 1030AM to 1930PM. I was terminated from work on 05th Jan2008 as my boss says he was not satisfied with my work performance & was on 2 days MC without notifying him. However, I did informed him through text messages that I will be on MCs but he claims he did not received any. This could be due because he was out of town & couldn’t receive any SMS. I fullfill the duties assigned to me and has not committed any act of misconduct. On the day I was terminated, I did seek advice with regards to my wages and he said he will get back to me in a few days time. However, he did not give me a reply for the past 1 week and was continuously saying he was busy and will call me back later. Nevertheless, all was said but not done. I tried to raise the matter with him today but his reply was that he could not return me back my wages because he is paying the agency a amount for my employment. I checked with the agency and understand that this amount is not due to compensate my leaving of job but is because in hiring me, he have to pay a amount to the agency. He then state that he could not return my pay because he is not satisfy with my work performance and my unknowing days of MCs. Surely for me who could not source for the right channel to seek my redress, I decided to seek MOM’s help in this matter. However, my boss says that i'am threatening him and may lodge a complaint with whoever I deem fit. It is lamentable that such a matter can happen in Singapore, a country that is governed by law. Youth like me have just entered society and are trying to earn some money for our education and to help ease the families' financial burdens, will we not lose heart about our future after having a encounter with such a bad employer? Don't understand why people like this just like to make things hard for us. Please help and advice. Adding on to my anger, my boss was a good roti prata peng-er! At first say he needs to pay agency for the lost of me, later say because not satisfactory with my work performance, and now say i was on MCs & did not inform him. WTF! I rmbed clearly i mention saying i have a serious toothache & will would need to consult a doctor. But this demanding boss of mine literally ask me to go consult a doctor & return back to work. If you have a toothache before, you'll know how hard is it to even open your mouth to talk. More over asking you to go back to your work place, i bet no one will be so damn hardworking unless you are paying me more even when i'm on MC! But no, this is definitely not the case. And now you are accusing me for not informing you, when you are out of reached in SG. Which i don't think this is my fucking fault. And on the 5th Jan (Mon), its you who asked me to leave on the spot since you are so unhappy about my work performance and my absent from wrk. But now what you say? You say you didn't terminate me leh! So you are saying i left and pork myself lah? Who on the earth would be so damn stupid to leave the job when they haven't even found a new one? I agreed that i did mention i'm still on a look out for better job and have no intention of looking into long term with this job. But does that mean i'm intending to quit now? Please don't assume leh! And in case you don't know what does assume means, it means using your ASS to think & conclude You & Me lor! Learnt from kristine one. Ha! But anyway, i have already lodge a complaint to MOM regarding you 'EATING' up my salary. Yes, i went down to MOM today because i couldn't take it anymore when i'm not paid for what i have sow & that person still talk to you in a yaya papaya tone, thinking he's so damn correct. Stop saying i'm threatening you 'cos i didn't mention i'm gonna burn down your showroom or hang pig head on your front door. I'm just searching for the right channel to seek my grieveness since our dispute can't be settle between the us. People, am i right to say so?! Ministry Of Manpower, this is a government sector leh. You mean i'm using the government to threaten you ar? Then so be it lor~ Because for people like you, i don't need to give you any more chance. FYI hor, I found this on LianHe Zaobao, 11 July 2007 - An Offence if Employer 'Eats' Salary of Employee It is an offence under the Employment Act for an employer not to pay salary earned by an employee for work done. The Ministry will take action, including prosecution, where appropriate, against an employer who violates the law. If found guilty, the employer can be fined up to $1,000 or imprisoned for up to 6 months or both, for each offence. I'm not afriad la. No worries, i'll be fine! Gonna settle this issue asap. Thanks kristine honey for accompanying down today & she was so frustrated that she took my phone & gave him a piece of mind. Lol! So fierce can. But indeed he deserve it. Kan his 18 generation ! Fuck up! _l_ Sigh, suddenly i felt so worn out. No amount of words will ever come to potray fully the degree of sadness.
